The efficiencies of wood and coal stoves and furnaces can vary greatly. While there are no standard tests for determining their efficiencies, experts say they are often about 50% efficient.
Although there are many different models of wood stoves on the market
today, as a home heating fuel, wood is considered to be "inexpensive"
(if you cut it yourself) but more work than "conventional" fuels.
It is also considered a "pollution" concern by environmentalists.
